Challenge

One of Beatport’s entities, DJcity, was running into issues deploying their React Native to production due to deprecated dependencies from third-party developers. Because these dependencies were deeply integrated into the codebase, the team faced a costly choice: replace them all or rebuild the entire application.

A full rebuild would mean higher costs and roadmap delays, so they needed a vetted mobile specialist who could update the app quickly and get it ready for an app release.

Why Blueprint

Blueprint’s mobile-only focus allowed us to quickly surface an engineer with the right expertise. Within a week, we introduced a React Native specialist who could immediately address the app’s daunting dependency challenges.

Every candidate we present is vetted by senior engineers and CTOs, ensuring both technical depth and team fit. This gave Beatport confidence they were meeting someone prepared to resolve the issue with speed and minimal risk.

The outcome

Blueprint’s engineers brought deep mobile expertise, refactoring legacy React Native architecture and resolving SDK compliance issues to deliver a faster, more stable app foundation.

Actions That Drove The Outcome

Delivered fast, relevant expertise

Introduced a vetted React Native specialist within a week, with deep experience in updating target SDK levels in Android Apps.  This required surgical replacement of many tightly coupled dependencies which were deprecated.

Solved the right problem, not the biggest one

Identified that replacing deprecated dependencies would take roughly 20% of the time of a full rebuild, which was what the in-house time had initially suggested doing.  Massive time and cost savings.

Protected the roadmap and the team

Stabilized the Android app while freeing Beatport’s internal engineers to focus on new feature development instead of maintenance work.

Built for continuity, not a quick fix

Engagement continues today, with the Blueprint engineer providing ongoing maintenance to keep the app stable and up to date.

Validated long-term team fit

Two of the three developers have been with the team for over 4 years, indicating good culture and professional fit.
